            Synopsis:

Jason (Jaz) has to abandon his studies at Trinity College Dublin when he learns
that his ex is pregnant. He obtains a qualification and returns to his native Luxembourg,
where he starts pining for his little daughter, Muriel, just as he once did for her mother.

Oscillating between a landlocked place that has just passed its Heescheverbuet
(law against soliciting) and a jazzy Dublin, vibrating with the energy of 'learning' and
possibility, the story explores themes of memory, generosity and their opposites.

... they seemed to have forgotton that 'Guttland' once meant 'good earth' as opposed to
'slate', bad land, hunger, not to mention the red soil in the country's south.
'For some people here money rhymes with amnesia' Jason thought mournfully.

Are we islands onto ourselves or is there a possibility that something, a chance
encounter, a token of kindness or even just a memory of salt, or hunger or hard land
thins out the gulf between us?
