This book was created from a collection of Japanese vintage matchbox labels
gathered while exploring small secondhand bookstores in Tokyo in the winter of 2025.

It begins with matchbox label designs from the Showa period (1926-1989),
reflecting urban popular culture and patterns of consumption, and includes,
in its middle section as an inserted booklet, a selection of labels
from the Meiji period (1868-1912), offering a view into early export-oriented
industrial design.
